In addition to the nose and mouth, the conjunctiva (white surface) of the eye can be an entry point for the coronavirus into the body. The virus can cause acute conjunctivitis (inflammation of the surface of the eye, or “red eye”) in some patients with COVID-19 disease.
Poor eyesight can also cause learning and behavioral problems, which might be blamed on other things. Young children may find it difficult to explain the visual difficulties they are having or they may not even be aware a problem at all.
