WHAT NOT TO EAT WHEN YOU HAVE RED EYES?

Currently, the condition of red eyes is facing the risk of outbreaks, especially in large cities. Red eyes often have symptoms such as redness, itching, feeling of heaviness, tearing, eyelid sticking, or difficulty opening your eyes when you wake up.

WHAT NOT TO EAT WHEN YOU HAVE RED EYES
In addition to following your ophthalmologist's care instructions, you also need to establish an appropriate diet and avoid certain types of foods to reduce the risk of adversely affecting the time and effectiveness of treating red eyes.

- Spicy and heavily seasoned foods: Foods that are rich in spiciness can worsen red eyes due to the sensation of heat and irritation, causing discomfort. Limit the consumption of spicy and heavily seasoned foods if you are experiencing red eyes.
- Seafood: Avoid consuming seafood when you have red eyes because seafood can trigger allergies, contain bacteria that cause infections, or irritate the eyes, exacerbating red eye symptoms. Moreover, seafood can make the condition of conjunctivitis infection more severe and prolong the recovery time.
- Contaminated food: Improperly prepared or stored food may contain agents that cause contamination and eye infections. Always check food and adhere to food safety rules to prevent infections.
- Histamine-rich foods: These include foods like tuna, processed meats, and fermented products. Histamine-rich foods can exacerbate inflammation and make red eyes more severe.

Red eyes can heal on their own within a week with proper treatment. However, in some cases, it can lead to serious complications or prolonged discomfort for the patient. Therefore, in addition to adhering to the treatment for red eyes, it is essential to consult with ophthalmology for timely examination and treatment.
