Rainwater contains a lot of dust, bacteria, and chemicals from industrial and urban environments. Regular exposure to rainwater can lead to conjunctivitis, dry eyes, and red eyes, especially in cases of bacterial or fungal conjunctivitis, which may reduce vision. That's why eye protection measures are necessary during the rainy season.
During heavy rain, rainwater falls with significant force and can hit the eyes, causing discomfort, irritation, and redness. This creates an environment for bacteria to thrive and can lead to various eye issues. Therefore, when going out in the rainy weather, use an umbrella or wear protective eyewear to shield your eyes from direct contact with rainwater. This helps protect your eyes from water splashing into them and prevents small foreign objects from getting into your eyes.
Refrain from rubbing your eyes without washing your hands first. Touching your eyes with dirty hands can introduce bacteria and cause infections.
If you are using air conditioning during the rainy season, be cautious not to set it too cold, as it may dry out your eyes.
Your eyes not only come into contact with rainwater but also may be exposed to dust kicked up by fast-moving vehicles. To protect your eyes, immediately wash your face and use a clean cloth or sterile cotton to dry your eyes and eyelids. Use saline solution eye drops to eliminate harmful bacteria.
